Roll of Honor

Assistant Chief
Year of Death: 1997

Brian Thomas Hauk

Submitted by his Wife

Brian proudly served with Logan-Trivoli Fire Protection District for fifteen years working his way up in rank to Assistant Chief in 1997. He was so excited about this promotion! Brian was always at the firehouse when not working his regular job cleaning either the firehouse or the fire trucks and always committed to fundraisers for the department. He was certified in diving‚ repelling‚ accomplished the Firefighter I and II training programs and had many other certificates in programs he had participated in. He was always furthering his education with the fire department and always looking for ways to better the fire department‚ especially with safety issues. Quite frequently he would receive phone calls at home for help whether it be a detector going off in someone’s home or someone in need of hospital equipment that was at the firehouse for our community’s use. He was such a giving and helpful person of himself in our small town community.

Brian’s survivors include his wife Tina and two children Kate Rebecca and Jacob Mychal. Memories of Brian are dear to our heart. He lived and breathed for the department and his committment to help others in times of need. He was someone you could trust‚ both as a friend and fellow firefighter and also someone you would want backing you inside of a house fire. He was wonderful when being in charge at any scene whether it was vehicular or a fire of any type. I often had a hard time getting him to leave our small town to go on vacation or even out to dinner – especially on the weekends when the department was short handed! I understood his dedication and accepted it. I remember the story he told of standing in his upstairs bedroom window‚ he was about five or six‚ watching a neighbor leave responding on a fire call. He said from then on he knew he wanted to be a firefighter. And what a wonderful fire hero he was.

We love and miss him so much and each Christmas it is a difficult time for us. We are so thankful that he was doing something he loved when he had to leave us but I’m sure he is watching from heaven and protecting his family‚ friends and fellow firefighters. We are blessed to have had him in our lives‚ even if the time was too short. Godspeed Brian Thomas.

Our Love Forever‚ Tina‚ Kate and Jake.
