Glenn served as Chief of the Era Volunteer Fire Department from 1980-1995. He was instrumental in establishing county-wide interlocal agreements between the eight volunteer fire departments throughout the county and the Gainesville Fire Department. He served as President of the Cooke County Firefighters Association for twelve years and was responsible for developing basic training programs for association members throughout the county.

Glenn was a highly respected member of the Era community (population 200) and involved in all aspects of community life serving on the boards of the Era Community Club‚ Era Water Supply Corporation and well as serving as Chief of the Era Volunteer Fire Department and owning and operating the general store.

The annual fund raising event for the volunteer fire department is now named in his honor and memory.

Glenn is survived by his loving wife of 20 years‚ Lynn Scott‚ who also fought fires by his side.
