Jonathan Myron Lanphear was a greatly loved and respected guy. He did road construction during the summer‚ and plowed snow during the winter months. Jonathan also helped repair cars‚ and loved to help the farmers during harvest. Jonathan was a member of the Boyd Volunteer Fire Department.

While en route to a grass fire on December 12‚ 2002‚ he was involved in a one vehicle car accident and lost his life.

Jonathan loved serving on the Volunteer Fire Department in Boyd‚ MN. No matter what he was doing‚ or where he was‚ when his pager went off he would drop everything he was doing and respond to the fire call. He was very proud of what he did‚ and everyone respected him very much for that.

Jonathan went to Dawson/Boyd high school in Minnesota. During Jonathan’s high school years he was very active in Wrestling and Football. Jonathan graduated in 1997‚ and went to school for Auto Body at MinnesotaWest Comm. and Tech. College in Granite Falls‚ MN after that. Jonathan helped out at Auto Body shops in his spare time.

Jonathan also loved spending time with his friends and family. He loved hunting with his Grandpa Myron‚ and fishing with his family. Jonathan also loved going to stock car races in near by towns. Jonathan also loved playing with his two young children‚ they were the world to him!

A Memorial Scholarship will be established in Jonathan’s name at Dawson/Boyd High School for students that were involved in wrestling‚ Jonathan’s favorite sport.

My brother Jon was on the Fire Department for a year or maybe almost a year. He loved helping those in need‚ when your driving down the road and you see a car stopped lots of people wouldn’t stop‚ he would always stop. He’d always tell me.. I guess if I get hurt I was only trying to help someone out. He’s such a great guy! Jon was the average guy‚ him and I grew up in small town Minnesota with not very many oppurtunities‚ but when the oppurtunity came around he was always there to help..Always. Jon graduated in 1997‚ and attended Autobody school from which he graduated from in 1999. He was very talented at welding also.

My grandpa‚ my uncle are all fire fighters‚ Jon very much looked up to them for what they did when he was young‚ He took the classes and was so proud!! When he got his new Fire Fighter suit‚ He took it from the fire station and brought it over to the house to show us .. SHHH! 🙂 Jon left behind 2 brothers and his only sister. Two beautiful children Boy Brett and Girl Erin. Brett 3 Erin now 1yrs. The memories of my brother are endless‚ and we will be in Emmitsburg in October to support my brother.
