Paul K. Jolliff‚ 37‚ career firefighter/paramedic‚ Indianapolis Fire Department‚ drowned June 14‚ 2002‚ during a dive training exercise. A member of the department for seven years‚ he died during the final practice dive before certification as a dive team member. Jolliff received an academic excellence award from Indiana University’s EMS/Paramedic Science Program‚ an award that has since been named in his honor. He was a marathon runner and had served with the U.S. Army Airborne Rangers. Jolliff’s grandfather was a member of the Indianapolis Fire Department for 26 years.
