The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Remembers Chief Kyle Ienn
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is deeply saddened by the death of Chief Kyle Ienn of Ralston Volunteer Fire Department on Tuesday, January 31, in Omaha (NE). To his wife, Christine, his three children, his extended family and all the members of his department and the fire service, we send our most sincere and heartfelt condolences. Chief Ienn was an ardent supporter of the Foundation's mission to honor the fallen, to comfort and assist their survivors, and to work diligently to prevent and reduce line-of-duty deaths and injuries. As one of the NFFF's Everyone Goes Home® Advocates, he shared the message of safety in the fire service, educating fire service members around the country about the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. Chief Ienn was also the coordinator of Nebraska's Local Assistance State Team (LAST), assisting fire departments and the family survivors of the fallen in their most stressful time. For the past several years, he and the members of the Ralston Honor Guard participated in the annual National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service in Emmitsburg, Maryland. NFFF Executive Director Ronald J. Siarnicki remembers that, "Chief Ienn was steadfast to these efforts in his words and actions, and his performance as a fire chief was unparalleled. He will be sorely missed." |
