ONE-TIME DEATH BENEFIT

The City of Norwalk shall provide and pay for term life insurance in an amount equal to the employee’s salary rounded to the nearest thousand dollars. See Firefighter Agreement for additional information.

RETIREMENT/PENSION PLAN

City of Danbury

“Upon the death of any member of the fire department killed while in the actual performance of duty in his department or who died from the proximate effects of any injury or exposure received while in the actual discharge of such duty, the widow of such member shall receive the benefits provided for herein until her death or remarriage out of the Firefighters Pension Fund of such department. If such deceased member was in active service at the time of his death his widow shall receive an annually adjusted sum, payable weekly or monthly, equal to one-half of the pay then being received by members in the same rank and grade as was held by such former member at the time of his death.” See Danbury Code of Ordinances, Part II, Code of Ordinances, Chapter 14-Pensions, Article II, Section 14-35 (b) for further information.
