ONE-TIME DEATH BENEFIT

The county provides an accidental death/dismemberment policy in the amount of $10,000 for a line of duty death of a volunteer fire/rescue member.

The policy also includes a small, unspecified amount general life insurance policy as long as the decedent is a member in good standing of their respective fire/rescue department.

The accidental death/dismemberment policy noted above includes workers’ compensation coverage for medical expenses incurred as a result of a line of duty death or injury. Wages are not covered as they are covered by the Mississippi state workers’ compensation fund.
