Red Helmets Ride

25th Annual Red Helmets Ride is Saturday, May 6, 2023 – Save the Date

The Annual Red Helmets Ride will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023. All riders, civilian and firefighter, are invited to participate in this show of support for America’s fallen fire heroes and their families. This is a rain or shine ride all will ride at your own risk. 

There are two staging areas:

Anne Arundel Staging – Water Tower on Maxwell Frye Road (Millersville, MD)

Staging at the Water Tower on Maxwell Frye Road begins at 10:15 am. We will depart at 11:15 am with an Anne Arundel County Police escort to the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Department (79 West Frederick Street) to stage with other riders at approximately 1:00 pm.

Walkersville Staging – Walkersville Volunteer Fire Department (Walkersville, MD)

Staging will be in the Walkersville Volunteer Fire Department (79 West Frederick Street) parking lot in Walkersville, MD. (Exit 17 off US Route 15 N to merge onto MD-26 E/Liberty Road toward MD-194/Libertytown/Walkersville; If coming South on Route 15, take Monocacy Road to left Route 26E) beginning a 1:00 pm. The ride will leave at 2:00 pm and will ride past the Family Hotel in Gettysburg, PA, and then onto to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, MD.

The procession will ride through downtown Emmitsburg on the way to campus. After arriving on campus at 3:15 pm, riders will line up to greet the Fire Hero Families at 4:00 pm. We will hold a wreath laying ceremony at the National Memorial at 4:30 pm.

For Riders Visiting the NETC Campus

All riders will follow the parking directions by security personnel and be screened by metal detectors before visiting the National Memorial.
Please note: Weapons and alcoholic beverages are prohibited on the NETC Campus.
