Everyone knows a firefighter. Some are your family or friends. Some are your neighbors or co-workers. They live in your communities and they respond without hesitation to help others. They are your local heroes.

You can be a hero, too. On Tuesday, November 28 you can help the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) further our mission to honor our nation’s fallen firefighters, assist their loved ones and work to reduce line-of-duty deaths through #GivingTuesday.

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. This occurs annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season.

For the third year, the Foundation will mark #GivingTuesday with #FireHeroTuesday. Join us in remembering the families of firefighters who have given their lives and celebrate all firefighters and their families who give to their communities every day.

“The survivors and countless firefighters have inspired us to develop many new programs and expand those that already exists, so we can continue to meet their needs,” explained Chief Ron Siarnicki, Executive Director of the NFFF. “Through the generosity that Giving Tuesday encourages, we know we will be able to fulfill our mission.”
