A Message from Our New Outreach Assistant, Dana Vandergrift

Hi, I am Dana Vandergrift, the new Outreach Assistant hired to work on your behalf in the Family Programs division. I am looking forward to serving as an essential liaison for you, the Fire Hero Family community. My responsibility is to assist you in researching resources and support that may be available to you locally, such as counseling, support groups or information on benefits.

As a case manager for many years working with families in crisis situations, I have specialized in educating the community about different resources for families in need. I enjoy being able to help others and ask that you contact me if I can assist you in any way. Together we can identify resources through the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and in your local area that will be most beneficial to your needs.

There are many ways for Fire Hero Families to volunteer with the NFFF. I am working to build a stronger volunteer database. By learning about you, your interest and availability, I will be able to connect you to volunteer opportunities. If you are interested, please feel free to contact me to confirm or update any of your contact information, or to update your volunteer status and interest. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you soon at one of the Fire Hero Family events this year. You can reach me at or 301-447-7693.
