The COVID-19 pandemic puts extra stress on all of us, It’s important to stay connected to your support systems right now, whether that’s friends, family, church, a recovery community, or a counselor. If you are struggling, please do not wait to ask for extra support. We will begin offering two new options, starting the week of April 27:
Peer Support Groups
Meet informally with other Fire Hero Families to share stories, struggles, and ideas in online Zoom support groups. These groups are just for family members, without NFFF staff or professional facilitators. The first group will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 7:00 – 8:30 pm EDT.
Licensed psychologist Dr. Angela Moreland will host two weekly support groups via Zoom. If you are struggling with grief or the quarantine or both, or if you do not have a strong support system in place, please sign up for a group. Each group is limited to 8 people. We will keep a waitlist and offer additional groups as needed. The first groups will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 8:00 – 9:00 pm EDT and Thursday, April 30, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm EDT.
These groups are open and free to Fire Hero Family members, but you must pre-register. If you want to attend a group next week, please email Erin at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Sunday, April 26, with the following information:
• Your name
• Your firefighter’s name
• Your relationship to the firefighter
• Which group/time(s) you are interested in
The Fire Hero Family Programs team is here for you. While we are adapting to these new circumstances, we are researching ways to bring resources, workshops, and meetings to you virtually. In the coming weeks, we will provide resources and information to help you stay connected.
