Elvis B. Maxwell‚ 49 a volunteer with Grant Parish Fire District #5 in Pollock‚ died on October 7‚ 1999‚ when he lost control of a tanker while responding to a structure fire. A Vietnam veteran‚ he was a self-employed welder. He was a well-known local musician who shared his music at area nursing homes‚ charity fundraisers and VFW posts.
