New in 2017!
In 2017, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will partner again with Comfort Zone Camp to provide a weekend bereavement camp for children of fallen firefighters who have been honored in Emmitsburg. For the first time, the Foundation will hold both the 4-6 age camp and the 7-17 age camp together in Colorado.

The program is run by CZC staff and trained volunteers. A member of the NFFF staff will also be on site at this camp. Structured camp activities will provide an opportunity for children from across the country to meet with others in their age group with similar experiences and to learn skills to cope with their loss. Comfort Zone Camp provides a therapeutic component in combination with a dynamic camp setting, allowing campers to process their grief in a fun and safe environment.
Campers and their parents will travel to camp on Friday afternoon. Once campers have been checked in, parents will attend an orientation session at camp before returning to the Denver Marriott in Westminster, Colorado. While at camp for the weekend, each camper will be matched with an adult Big Buddy (of the same gender) who has been trained by Comfort Zone Camp. Many of the volunteers for this camp are members of the fire service. Parents will return to camp on Sunday afternoon for the closing program and to reunite with their children.
