Did you hear that the NFFF is proudly hosting the 2nd Fire Service Innovation in Safety Symposium?
The 2022 Innovation in Safety Symposium supports Initiative #8 and will focus on the future of technology in the fire service. Over the course of two days, participants will experience engaging topics and networking events. The Symposium will feature panel discussions, TEDs-like presentations, short case studies, and workshops. A Vendor Showcase will provide networking opportunities and highlight companies and organizations supporting leading advancements in fire service-related technology.
Attendees will experience a highly interactive agenda. 2022 Innovation in Safety Symposium topics will address:
- Electric fire apparatus,
- Personal protection equipment (materials, monitoring, physiological stress reduction),
- Roadway safety (such as struck-by prevention & autonomous vehicles),
- Station alerting advancements (stress reduction technologies),
- Electronic incident management,
- Immersive learning (AR/VR),

- Firefighter tracking technology (FRST Challenge),

Keynote Speaker:
Dean Erika James
Wharton School
Dean James became the dean of the Wharton School on July 1, 2020. Trained as an organizational psychologist, Dean James is a leading expert on crisis leadership, workplace diversity and management strategy. Prior to her appointment at Wharton, Dean James was the John H. Harland Dean at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School from 2014 to 2020.
An award-winning educator, accomplished consultant, and researcher, she is the first woman and first person of color to be appointed dean in Wharton’s 141-year history. As such she has paved the way for women in leadership both in education and corporate America. Dean James has been instrumental in developing groundbreaking executive education programs, including the Women’s Leadership program at the University of Virginia’s Darden School.
Dean James serves on the boards of Morgan Stanley, SurveyMonkey, and nonprofits Save the Children and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

UL’s Fire Safety Research Institute Tour
Reserve your spot to attend UL’s facility and structures tour on June 30, 2022, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. During the optional field trip, UL will be conducting an experiment to examine the impact of ventilation. Check out this recently released video on a Search & Rescue study. The tour will include the facility and structures where these experiments were conducted. Space is limited – registration is on a first come, first served basis.
