2022 Truman Fire Forum

Using the backdrop of President Harry S. Truman’s birthplace in Independence, and his 1947 Conference on Fire Prevention as a guide, the key components of the summit will include a series of plenary sessions to share information followed by smaller discussion groups. The seven main topics for this 2.5-day meeting will include:

  • Integrating fire prevention and public education into the regular operations of the fire department
  • Using data, research, and science as a basis for improving fire prevention
  • Marrying modern solutions with modern challenged and problems
  • Finding new ways to leverage fire prevention safety efforts
  • Telling the fire prevention story
  • Evaluating risk and making decisions
  • Carrying forward the legacy of Truman’s vision

Please consider attending if you have attended a previous Truman Summit, are a fire service leader, other public safety member, legislator, key partner, stakeholder, or have been impacted by fire to evaluate these initiatives and provide your input to improving the nation’s response to fire.
