Introducing the Adult Children's Retreat: Embrace Healing and Connection
In response to numerous requests, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is proud to host its inaugural Adult Children’s Retreat in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 27-30, 2023. This long-awaited event aims to promote healing, resilience, and the invaluable connection with others who understand the journey you’re on.
This event is open to Fire Hero children and stepchildren, ages 21 and over, whose firefighter has been honored, or is approved to be honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
At the Adult Children’s Retreat, we understand that loss can be a deeply personal and unique experience. That’s why our expert facilitators are here to guide you through meaningful conversations that will help you unlock your inner strength and resilience. Through group discussions, interactive workshops, and intimate sharing sessions, you’ll find solace in knowing that you’re not alone on this journey.
One of the most powerful aspects of the retreat is the opportunity to connect with peers who have walked a similar path. As you share your stories and experiences, you’ll forge bonds that transcend words. These connections will provide a supportive network that will continue long after the retreat ends.

At the Inaugural Adult Children's Retreat, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Gain new skills and resilience: Engage in thought-provoking, dynamic discussions and activities led by grief experts that will leave a lasting impact on your life. The shared experiences will provide you with the tools and mindset to address grief and life challenges with courage and strength.
- Connect with other Fire Hero Family members: One of the most powerful aspects of the Adult Children's Retreat is the opportunity to connect with others who have walked a similar path and understand the challenges and emotions you've faced. Share your stories, offer support, and find solace in the collective understanding and empathy of our compassionate Fire Hero Family community.
- Work through sticking points together: Sometimes, navigating grief can bring about unexpected challenges. Our discussions, guided by experienced facilitators, create a safe and supportive environment to explore any roadblocks, gain new perspectives, and find clarity as you continue to heal and grow.
- Explore the Queen City: In addition to the retreat's transformative work, we also make sure to create moments of joy, relaxation, and connection. Enjoy a refreshing change of scenery in downtown Charlotte and share a memorable group outing that will create shared memories.
Space is limited for this event and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis. Registration will remain open until August 31, or until the event is full.
