Grit, Grace, and Growth – February

Grit, Grace, and Growth

We are excited to introduce a new virtual series of workshops designed to build community among people who have been widowed. Each workshop will include time for discussion and interaction among the group to share experiences, ideas, concerns, and hope.

This program is open to anyone who is the family member of a firefighter honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland and whose spouse or life partner has died. That means any woman or man, legally married or not, who has lost their life partner may join the workshop series—even if the lost partner was not a firefighter.

This series is designed to:

  • Help widowed participants identify and access grit when managing difficult life circumstances
  • Explore the value of offering ourselves grace as we move through our grief and manage our day-to-day lives
  • Encourage individual growth through the presentation of topics relevant to the widowed experience

The series includes:

  • Four one-hour virtual workshops, held on the first Sunday of each month, beginning November 8, 2020 and ending on February 7, 2021
  • Six short informational videos designed to complement the lesson highlighted in each workshop
  • A customized, interactive journal that will serve as a roadmap for the complete series
  • Homework between workshops, to help explore and develop the concepts discussed
