Free, one-day leadership training for volunteer and career chief officers, company officers, and future leaders
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will host two sessions of, Leadership in a Dynamic Environment, a one-day symposium on organizational leadership. Each session is limited to 50 participants; topics covered will include:
• Leading and Managing Progress in a Post-Tragedy Environment
• Managing Complex Incidents
• Developing and Using a Tactical Worksheet
• Organizational Skills for Officers
Leadership in a Dynamic Environment facilitators and key presenters for this training will be Jack deTournillon and John Tippett. In Battalion Chief deTournillon’s career with the Charleston (SC) Fire Department, he emerged as one of the pivotal change agents after the department’s tragic Sofa Super Store Fire in 2007. John Tippett is a 44-year veteran of the fire service, and after retirement from Montgomery County (MD) went to Charleston as the department’s first deputy chief of operations. From 2009 to 2018, he worked with Jack and other members of the Charleston Fire Department to rebuild the department after its tragic loss. Chief Tippett retired from Charleston Fire Department as Interim Fire Chief in 2018 and is now Director of Fire Service Programs for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
