This course emphasizes how strong leadership can contribute to preventing line-of-duty deaths and serious injuries. It is designed for Chiefs or senior-level officers who have commanded firefighters on a wide variety of emergency incidents, including fires and hazardous materials responses. Using a series of case studies, the course examines issues that lead to a fatality or injury, what could have been done to prevent the incident, steps any department can implement to reduce the risk of line-of-duty injuries and deaths, and the adaptive challenges facing today’s emergency services to create a safer environment.
