“We must use all our experience, knowledge, and organizational facilities to solve our fire problems.”

– Harry S. Truman, address to the Conference on Fire Prevention (May 5, 1947)

17th Annual Truman Legacy Symposium

The 17th Annual Harry S. Truman Legacy Symposium will take place May 5-6, 2019 on the historic grounds of the Harry S. Truman Little White House in Key West, FL. The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is proud to partner with the Harry S. Truman Little White House and the Key West Harry S. Truman Foundation for this year’s symposium.

The theme this year is “Truman’s Legacy toward Fire Prevention, Fire Safety and Historic Preservation” and is centered on the final report from the 1947 President’s Conference on Fire Prevention. The goal of the symposium is to reflect on Truman’s legacy and identify a path forward to protecting our nation from fire and other hazards. The symposium will include presentations by fire service leaders and historians, including President Truman’s grandson.

Registration for the Truman Legacy Symposium is managed by the Harry S. Truman Little White House. Visit the Truman Little White House website to register for the Truman Legacy Symposium. Lodging is not included with registration and will need to be arranged by attendees.
