May 6, 2021 – May 8, 2021, All Day
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Family Programs team is pleased to invite you and your children to attend our new Virtual Camp HAL program. No need to wait until summer! With fewer opportunities for children to socialize and play this year, Virtual Camp HAL can serve as a catalyst to bring the children in our community together!
In January, March and May 2021, the Foundation will be offering virtual camp sessions for children ages 4-7, which will include pre-camp sessions for parents/guardians. Camp and parent sessions will be hosted by Stephanie Heitkemper, a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Registered Play Therapist (RPT), who specialize in working with young children who have experienced loss. Stephanie will include a mix of activities and strategies to help children grow, learn, and navigate their grief and to help parents support their children through this process. Being with other children who have experienced a similar loss can be quite significant in healing. You’re sure to develop friendships and make connections within our community.
Thursday, May 6 8:00 pm (EST)
Parents and guardians of eligible campers. Parents with children ages 0-3 are also invited to attend parent sessions to gain skills to help support their children.
Saturday, May 8 2:00 pm (EST)
Children, stepchildren, and siblings of firefighters honored or approved to be honored at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
Registration is required for this event, and registered campers will receive materials prior to camp that will be used during the virtual camp sessions.
