We All Have a Story to Tell!

July 27, 2020, 8:00pm – 9:00pm

Grief Discussion for Those Who Have Lost a Special Loved One

This workshop was originally planned for the 2020 Wellness Conference in Branson, Missouri, and has been repurposed in a virtual format. It will weave in storytelling from the presenter’s personal experience with discussion on topics including The Three Ns of Grief – Normal, Natural and Necessary, What Affects Your Grief, and Coping Methods that are Right for You. While this is presented from the vantage point of a widowed spouse, it is open to all in the community who have experienced the loss of a special loved one.

We All Have a Story to Tell! This workshop will be presented by Mary Hollis, wife of Alfornia Hollis, a Georgia firefighter who died in the line of duty in 1991. Mary started The Next Chapter Widows’ Ministry, which is now in its 17th year. She is a Certified Biblical Counselor and has a passion to encourage and embrace others who have lost a special loved one. She also has a blogtalkshow every Tuesday at 10 pm and has written two books, A Widow’s Touch and Oh, Lord! What Am I To Do?

After working as a banker for 40 years, Mary retired from her final position as a Consumer Compliance Officer. Her two children, Alexcia and Allan, received scholarships from the NFFF for their college education. Now, she wants to give back through the NFFF for their support of the loss of her husband and her children’s education.
