Gregory Edwin Pacheco

Gregory Edwin Pacheco‚ 20‚ a member of a U. S. Forest Service crew‚ died on October 5‚ 1999‚ from head injuries sustained while constructing a fire line on the La Jolla Indian Reservation fire near San Diego. He lived in Penasco‚ New Mexico‚ where he was a Picuris Tribal Member. Since 1996‚ he had been a federal firefighter with Penasco Number Five‚ a Native American hand crew from the Carson National Forest in Taos‚ New Mexico.

  1. Its been 15 years since Greg left us and not a day goes by that I don’t think about him. Memories I hold close to my heart and will always carry with me. Knowing and loving Greg shaped me in being the person I am today and his memory will continue to remind me of faith, belief, compassion and everlasting love.
