Henry Runco joined TRFC #1 Feb. 6‚ 1953. He served in the 1st and 2nd Lieutenant positions during the late 1950’s. From 1957 until his death in 1981‚ he served as the company’s Chaplain. Henry was also a member of the Toms River First Aid Squad. He was very active in his community and the local church as well as a respected family man.
On August 31‚ 1981‚ Henry responded to a fire alarm at the Community Medical Center in Toms River. He drove the first engine out and upon returning the engine to the firehouse he collapsed and died shortly after.
On November 12‚ 1996‚ the members of Toms River Fire Company #1 dedicated its Main Station House (26 Robbins Street‚ Toms River‚ NJ) to Henry Runco. HENRY YOU ARE MISSED!
