Assistant Fire Chief Mack G. Mays Jr., age 47, of the Monelison Volunteer Fire Department died on July 10, 2025, of a heart attack after responding to a commercial building fire.
The National Emergency Training Center (NETC) campus will be closed during the government shutdown, including access to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
