Firefighter Michael Sofia, age 53, of the Fire Department City of New York – Engine 165, died on September 1, 2005, from illness related to response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

He was the beloved husband of Janet, cherished father of Mike, loving son of Sarah and the late Daniel, and the brother of Danny and Joey. He was also survived and loved by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
