Nolan E. Pittman

Chief Nolan ‘Goat’ Pittman suffered a fatal heart attack on March 4‚ 2012‚ after becoming ill while operating at the scene of a residential structure fire.

He was born July 20‚ 1966‚ the son of Sedgie and Helen Louise Pittman. He worked as a truck driver. A 25-year veteran with the Centreville Volunteer Fire Department‚ he was remembered for his dedication to the department and the town. He lived and breathed the fire department.

He was survived by his wife‚ Melissa ‘Missy’ Thomas Pittman; his mother‚ Helen; his seven-year-old daughter‚ April Renee Pittman; a stepdaughter‚ Lacy Summerall; his parents-in-law‚ James and Hattie Thomas; brother-in-law‚ Jason Thomas; two sisters‚ Robin Pittman McKenzie (Thomas) and Penny Pittman Slocum; a brother‚ Denson Pittman (Reta); and many aunts‚ uncles‚ cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers‚ David and Terry Pittman.

‘Goat’ was well loved‚ the kind of person you could count on if you were ever in need.
