Paul Allen Laux

Submitted by his Nephew

Captain Paul Laux drove a water tanker to the scene of a reported structure fire. When the reported incident turned out to be steam‚ the incident commander released all units to return to station. As reports were completed and units prepared to return to station‚ a firefighter noticed that the door to the tanker was open. As he looked inside‚ he observed Captain Laux slumped over the wheel and unconscious. Captain Laux was removed from the tanker and provided with medical care‚ including the arrival of ALS. No defibrillator was available initially but one was utilized upon the arrival of ALS.

  1. Uncle Paul, I was researching your death and found this web site. Wow do I miss hanging out with you and Brent and Todd. I miss talking to you about our common bond in the Marines, I remember how proud you were and how we told boot camp stories that Thanksgiving. You never got to see me enter public service, although I took to the law enforcement side. Ryan is a cop as well. Mom and Dad retired finally and moved to Arkansas, you know Dad and his fishing. Your sister still talks about you all the time. It is very hard for her to even mention your name without crying. Ryan ended up joining the Marines too. He got out and became a cop as well. He is doing fine. Since you died, I was married and have a little boy. He is two now, and loves to play with his toy fire trucks. I hope he becomes a cop or a fireman someday as it seems to run in the family. Thanks for all of the great advice while you were here, I just wish it could have been a lot longer. Semper Fi Uncle Paul Justin

  2. It’s hard to imagine it’s been 16 yrs years since your passing. Everyday I go to work I’m reminded of the time and sacrifices you made each and everyday. You were a great teacher firefighter and role model. I know if you could have you would have been a career firefighter. Your teachings carry on everyday in those who you molded to be great students, firefighters, and leaders. I’m proud to say I’m a fireman because of you and I’m sure you are proud that I chose this profession. You are an inspiration to everyone.

    Your son,
    Todd
