Lieutenant Paul Mickolick, age 43, dedicated his life to serving others as a firefighter and paramedic. He made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty while serving with the Town & Country Fire District on April 19, 2025.
Paul devoted more than twenty years to emergency services, including sixteen years as a flight paramedic with the Cleveland Clinic Critical Care Transport (CCT) team. He earned his Flight Paramedic Certification (FPC), was EVOC I certified, served as a trusted preceptor, and was an active member of the CCT Safety Committee. In the most critical moments, Paul was known for his steady presence, exceptional clinical skill, and unwavering commitment to patient care.
In the fire service, Paul rose to the rank of lieutenant and held certifications as Firefighter II, Paramedic, Instructor II, and Fire Safety Inspector. He was also certified in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP, reflecting his commitment to the highest standards of emergency medicine. In 2024, he received the Chief’s Award from the Town & Country Fire District for responding to more calls than any other member of the department, volunteering his time in addition to serving full-time during the week. His willingness to answer every call exemplified the depth of his dedication to his community.
Above all else, Paul was a devoted family man. He was a loving husband to his wife, Rachel; a proud and devoted father to Connor and Elise; a cherished son, brother, and uncle; and the steady center of strength and love for his entire family. He treasured time together—skiing, cheering for the Cleveland Browns, and creating lasting memories on trips to Disney and the Smoky Mountains. His greatest joy was simply being present for the people he loved.
Lieutenant Mickolick’s legacy endures in the lives he saved, the firefighters and paramedics he mentored, and the family who carries forward his strength, character, and unwavering love. His life stands as a testament to service, sacrifice, and the enduring honor of the fire service.
