Ronald V. Patterson Sr.

He had been a East Newark firefighter for 8 months only. As a Probationary firefighter he was at drills, all meetings, and involved in every wet down some way. In 2019, a park in town was dedicated in his memory. There is a plaque was posted in firehouse after he died. The plaque includes his photo, a firefighter medal, and the definition of valor which states—the quality which enables a man to encounter danger with firmness: personal bravery especially as regards to fighting.

  1. I want to personally thank Firefighter Patterson for his ultimate sacrifice in trying to save me and my family from that terrible fire that took place 41 years ago today.
