Wilbur Anderson was a retired Los Angeles FD Captain who returned to the small town of Midland‚ IN in Greene County and took the position of Chief with the Wright Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. His first order of business was to train the firefighters in the proper way to fight fires. Wilbur died of a massive heart attack as we were fighting a house fire in Vicksburg‚ IN. The Indiana State Fire Marshall’s office later determined that the blaze had been intentionally set. Despite the actions of EMTs who were on scene‚ Chief Anderson did not survive.
Chief, it’s been twenty years since you’ve been gone and it only seems like yesterday. I still remember everything that happened that day. You were like a second dad to me and I’ve never forgotten about you. Rest easy Chief.
