On October 18, 2025, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will sponsor the official national tribute to the FDNY firefighters who died as a result of post-9/11 illness at the National Fallen Firefighters FDNY Memorial Service in New York City.
In the afternoon, the families of these fallen heroes will be welcomed at the Family Reception. After sharing refreshments with other Fire Hero Families, they will attend the Memorial Service – a beautiful tribute to our fallen heroes where the plaque with their loved one’s name is unveiled. During the ceremony, family members will bear witness as a grateful nation honors their firefighters. As each name is read aloud, families receive an American flag, a badge, and a rose. After the Service, families will connect with other Fire Hero Families at the Family Dinner.
For our honored families, the Memorial Service is both an opportunity to honor the service and sacrifice of their loved one and an important step forward in the recovery process. Family members meet others to share experiences, make lasting friendships, and begin to look ahead.
Examples of what these sponsorships can do include:
- $75,000 provides keepsake items (t-shirts with the name of their fallen hero, Memorial remembrance books with their firefighter’s bio, etc.) for families attending the Memorial Service.
- $50,000 provides the plaques listing the names of these fallen heroes to be placed at the National Memorial.
- $25,000 provides a meal for Fire Hero family members following the Memorial Service.
- $10,000 provides for production of the Roll of Honor
- $5,000 provides flowers for the Memorial Service.
Every donation, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated and will help honor these heroes and support their families with a meaningful tribute.
