Roll of Honor

Lieutenant
Age: 46
Year of Death: 2005

Curtis W. Meyran

Submitted by his Wife

Curt’s boundless energy and enthusiasm were contagious. His animated personality‚ sense of humor and warm smile will remain with us always. His master carpentry skills remain in all the firehouses he was assigned‚ including exercise rooms‚ humidors and kitchen tables. Curt was honored several times for bravery since his career began in 1989 – Coney Island’s Ladder 161 to Brooklyn’s Ladder 123 to Queens Ladder 173. His proudest day was his promotion to Lieutenant in 2002 where he returned to his roots in the Bronx Battalion 26.

Known as ‘Joe Bass’ he enjoyed surfcasting and brought home many a catch! Affectionately known as ‘Bested Dad’ his children were his passion. A big kid at heart himself‚ Curt was often teased to ‘grow up.’ His response was: I’ve seen grown-ups and I don’t like ïem (Smile). Once you were in Curt’s heart you were there forever. A devoted and loving soul mate‚ dad and friend‚ he will be sorely missed and many a heart will remain broken. We were not prepared for this path‚ but Curt taught us that the secret of a happy life is to enjoy the ride and the passing of time‚ enjoy life’s simple pleasures. This will be our guide to prepare us for every new day.

We couldn’t be more proud to be the ‘Curt Meyran Family.’

A life well lived! Well done Curt…well done!!

Jeanette‚ Dennis‚ Angela and Danine Meyran.

  1. To All Our Dear New Friends, Thank you so much for one of the most memorable & moving weekends to recognize our loss. It was truly an honor to attend & have Curt recognized in such a meaningful way. You covered everything and we have some beautiful memories to cherish. We will absolutely return as I’m sure so many others have & continue to do & would be honored to assist in any way I can for future memorials. Your entire staff as well as everyone we encountered should be blessed for all the kindnesses that you extended to us for our stay. God Bless you all & thank you again from the bottom of our broken hearts! Lt. Curt Meyran Family, FDNY blessedeliu

  2. My daughter Susan Hill was married to a fire Captain here in Chula Vista CA (near San Diego) and she wore the red 911 memorial shirt with “Curt Meyran” on it until she passed on October 12, 2019. It meant a lot to her to wear it and remember what happened that terrible day.
