Robert W. Feeney

Submitted by his daughter

Robert W. Feeney was a great man who was very devoted to his family‚ friends‚ and those serving in the fire department. He was involved with the Phil Daily Fire & Hose company for 26 years‚ always making an enormous effort while he participated in the volunteer department. He was just like his father‚ Henry A. Feeney (a.k.a Chip)‚ and his grandfather who both worked with the department before him.

He was an exceptional landscaper while he worked at Rutgers University as Head of Grounds. He always had ideas to make the campus more pleasent and enjoyable to be on.

The job he was best at though‚ was the job of being a husband and father. Robert was very devoted to his family and loved them so much. He always made sure that he could give them everything he could while being what a father was‚ a giver of advice and a interested and protective parent. He loved his wife‚ Jayne Van Doren‚ who he took to be his wife and had been married to for 14 years before he died.

He was very much interested in building things and he would always watch Bob Villa shows to see how things were done. He also liked to watch Junk Yard Wars. He was very interested in hands on stuff.

When 9-11 happened he was right there in the action. He helped decontaminate people as they poured into Long Branch train station and created bumper stickers in memory of his fallen comrades‚ which he displayed honorably.
