Wayne‚ 45‚ a Firefighter for the City of Columbus and Lowndes County Volunteer Fire Department. He was one of the first certified firefighters for the City of Columbus. He worked for the City for 17 years and was a Driver/Engineer at the time of his death. He also volunteered his time to his community fire department and served for 14 years. He was voted Fireman of the Year by his fellow firefighters twice. He was honored as a Hero for the American Red Cross and remembered at a special 9-11 Memorial Service by his peers at the City of Columbus Fire Department and the Lowndes County Volunteer Fire Department.

Wayne was also well known for his excellent auto mechanic skills‚ and he was always willing to lend a hand to help his friends and co-workers as well as share his knowledge and teach others who wanted to learn.
