Roy Nix

Roy Nix was a native of Carbon Hill, Alabama and firefighter with the Talladega Fire Department for 6 years, he had joined the Eastaboga Airport as a firemen in 1942 and later transferred to the Brecon Defense Plant. Prior to joining the Talladega Fire Department, he was a private Sawmiller. Firefighter Nix was overcome by intense heat and blaze at a fire on 17th St in Talladega and died at the scene from an apparent heart attack. Ro Nix is survived by his widow, Ms Hazel Nix, Son Charles K Nix, Daughter Jean Trawick, a grandson and six brothers.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
