Jackson began his college journey with the intention of pursuing a career in politics but has since shifted his focus to sports journalism after discovering a passion for sports media while attending Michigan State University. Michigan State’s renowned sports journalism and broadcasting programs have allowed Jackson to attend and participate in sporting events, helping him build a strong resume. He also has valuable connections within Detroit’s professional sports teams, which he hopes to leverage in his future career.
Outside of academics, Jackson is involved in various student organizations that enrich his college experience. He is an active member of the ski club, which supports student well-being, and the Public Policy Club, where he engages in political discussions and campus initiatives. One of his proudest moments was helping organize an event with Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer to promote voter engagement. Jackson remains resilient and driven.
Former educator and employer Zoe Seldon describes Jackson as “encouraging, intelligent, hardworking, and an amazing leader. He always maintained a balance between assisting with his autistic younger brother’s care, his education and working a retail job.” Dustin Watkins of the Durham Fire Department echoes these sentiments, calling Jackson “hardworking and dedicated to his goals.”
