Jackson’s career goal is to become a politician, an aspiration he says he has had since fifth grade when he watched a presidential debate. His dream job would be to work on Capitol Hill as Speaker of the House or the majority or minority leader in the U.S. Senate.
Jackson would like to intern and volunteer with politicians during college. During high school, he was active with the student political club and participated in a voter registration drive. He was also active with a criminal justice club, where he served in leadership roles. He works part-time at Old Navy and is in charge of setting up and planning community service events at his store.
College instructor Fred Shambaugh says Jackson cares about others and is willing to invest time and effort in helping others achieve. He describes Jackson as a goal-oriented leader who is respected by his peers. Dustin Watkins of the Durham Fire Department echoes these sentiments, calling Jackson “hardworking and dedicated to his goals.”
