Chief Dennis Compton -  IAFC President’s Award
Today, August 8, 2019, during the General Session of Fire-Rescue International, Chief Dennis Compton was recognized for his contributions in the fire service by the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC).

Chief Compton was presented with the 2019 IAFC President’s Award of Recognition by this year’s president, Chief Dan Eggleston of the Albemarle County (Virginia) Department of Fire Rescue. This award is given by the President of IAFC to honor individuals in the fire service who contributed significantly during his/her term.

For over 14 years, Chief Compton has been a member of the Board of Directors of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) with 11 of those years, serving as Chairman.

“We are extremely proud of Chief Compton receiving this award,” said Chief Ron Siarnicki, Executive Director of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. “His commitment as the NFFF Chairman of the Board has played a significant part in the Foundation’s mission and we are excited that he received this recognition and honor.”

This award is one of a long list of achievements for Chief Compton. He started his career with the Phoenix Fire Department, promoted through the ranks, and retired as an Assistant Chief after 28 years of service. Upon his retirement, he served as the Fire Chief in Mesa, Arizona.
