Senate Passed the Fire Grants and Safety Act

Senate Passed the Fire Grants and Safety Act

Share

This afternoon, the Senate passed S. 870, the Fire Grants and Safety Act.  This important legislation reauthorizes the United States Fire Administration (USFA), the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program, and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program through Fiscal Year 2030.  These vital grant programs, and the work of USFA, provide critical resources to our nation’s fire departments to address the health and safety of our firefighters while they protect our communities.  The legislation will now go before the House of Representatives for consideration.  We thank Senator Gary Peters (MI) and Senator Susan Collins (ME) for sponsoring the legislation,  and thank you to all of the senators who voted to pass the bill.
