James Maurice “Jim” Young II was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, firefighter, and friend whose life was defined by service, kindness, and an extraordinary love for his family. For 28 years, Jim proudly served the Bellevue community as an engineer, firefighter, and paramedic with the Metro Nashville Fire Department, answering every call with professionalism, compassion, and genuine care.
Jim was a true family man, and nothing meant more to him than those he loved. He shared a beautiful 34-year love story with his wife, Michele. Their marriage was built on friendship, love, and deep devotion, filled with inside jokes, quiet moments, and laughter only they truly understood.
Jim’s greatest joy was being a father to his sons, Jacob and Andrew, who were the center of his world. He coached their sports teams and spent countless hours playing games, riding bikes, flying kites, building Legos, and creating unforgettable childhood adventures. Jim turned ordinary moments into lifelong memories—building pirate ships, backyard carnivals, giant slip-and-slides, and Nerf battlefields.
Jim loved sharing his passions with his boys. He enjoyed sporting events with Jacob and talking sports with him daily. With Andrew, he loved working on projects, playing golf and tennis, and fishing. He also shared his love of music, movies, and video games with both sons, creating countless moments of laughter and connection.
Jim loved and respected his parents, Jim and Carole. He cherished hours spent fishing with his dad and the simple joy of being together on the water. He described his mother as the kindest, most loving soul and delighted in hearing her laugh. Jim shared a lifelong bond with his sister, Leigh, enjoying 80s music, trivia, and laughter together. He also took great joy in being an uncle to his nieces and nephew.
Jim was remarkably creative and could build or fix almost anything, and he loved teaching those skills to his sons. Known for his contagious laugh and warm presence, he made everyone feel welcome and was always willing to help someone in need.
Jim loved his Lord and Savior and went home to be with Him on December 14, 2023, surrounded by the friends and family he loved so deeply. One of the final things he said to his wife was, “Promise me you will keep your faith.” Jim lived a life that reflected 2 Timothy 4:7: I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Though his time on earth was far too short, his legacy of service, kindness, faith, and unconditional love lives on in the countless lives he touched.
