Donna Piechura is a retired travel professional. She began her 26-year career as an airport customer service representative for one of the major airlines, which led her to a new area of expertise, corporate travel consultant. In this role she worked for two major companies, Roche Diagnostics and BCD Corporate Travel. In addition to working in the travel industry, Donna has also volunteered at local hospitals, working with animals, and she currently sits on the executive action committee for her homeowner’s association. Her life has been committed to quality customer service and
care to others.
Donna is the widow of Jeff Piechura who was the first Fire Chief at Northwest Fire District in Tucson, Arizona. He held that position for 24 years before retiring and moving to Stockton, California to become their fire chief during the city’s bankruptcy reorganization. Upon his final retirement from chief positions, Jeff continued working with the U.S. Forest Service as an air tactical group supervisor (ATGS). Jeff was tragically killed in July 2021 while working a wildland fire in central Arizona. Together they raised 5 children and now Donna enjoys retired life with the adult children and 4 grandchildren, as well as traveling with family and friends.
Donna has benefited from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation by participating in the annual winter retreat and tree lighting ceremony, as well as participating weekly in the Peer Support group meetings. She has gained lifelong friendships through the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and is forever grateful. Donna will soon be participating in the Peer Support training offered through the Foundation so she can continue to share the support to other Fire Hero Families.
