Inclement weather forces National Fallen Firefighters Candlelight Service to move to new location

Share

Due to the expected inclement weather in Emmitsburg, Maryland on Saturday, October 8, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is moving its annual Candlelight Service indoors. It will be held next door to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial at the National Shrine of Elizabeth Ann Seton, the Basilica of the Daughters of Charity.

Due to space limitations, the service is not open to the public. However, it can be watched online live at live.firehero.org and on the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation Facebook page. It is still scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

At the moment, we still expect Sunday’s Memorial Service to be held as scheduled outdoors at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial. That service remains open to the public and begins at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

While we are honoring our firefighter heroes, we know that many other firefighters are in harm’s way, helping to keep communities safe in the path of Hurricane Matthew. Our thoughts are with all of them.
