The NFFF is Coming to the Massachusetts!

Instructors from the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation will be visiting the Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills (C-O-MM) Fire-Rescue and Emergency Services  on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, 9:00 am -4:00 pm.

Advocates Chris Koretski, Kevin Sehlmeyer, and Fire Programs Director John Tippett will deliver two of Fire Programs’ highly impactful presentations, “Attributes of Leading,” and “The First Five Minutes for the First Arriving Officer” to members of the three departments.

Attributes of Leading (AoL)

AoL is a highly interactive, practical, case study-based course that focuses on twelve essential leadership qualities, competence, constructive influence, grit, humility, presence, resilience, self-mastery, self-regulation, stepping up, trust, vigilance, and wellness. The program is designed to build more effective fire service leaders of all ranks through a process of view, review, introspection, and discussion. AoL challenges attendees to focus on qualities that directly impact improving overall performance, health and survival, on and off the incident scene. Feedback from program participants has been overwhelmingly positive. Many are reporting infusing the Attributes of Leading program into their officer development and continuing education programs.

The First Five Minutes for the First Arriving Officer

This presentation delves into the myriad of decisions thrust upon the first arriving officer and, through incident simulations, introduces strategies for dealing with sensory overload, compulsion to act, and action paralysis officers can face under stressful situations. This interactive program explores the process of decision making under stress, identifies proven processes that promote sound decision making under pressure, and better prepares the officer for their next emergency.
