Alexander Goldfrank

Lieutenant Alexander “Sandy” Goldfrank was a 24 year veteran of the Caribou Fire Department. On the night of August 9, 1968, Lt. Goldfrank had responded to the Caribou Fire Department for a mutual aid call. While attempting to mount a fire engine, Lt. Goldfrank slipped underneath the fire truck and was run over. Lt. Goldfrank was transported to Cary Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries 2 hours later.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
