Captain George E. Bartles, age 33, of the Kansas City Fire Department (MO), died on August 18, 1959, in a Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion (BLEVE) at the Continental Oil Company.
George was a U.S. Marine veteran and served during World War II.
