Gerald married Doneaka Brooks on August 15, 1998, and they were married for twelve years. His son, Harlem Brooks, was born into that union. Gerald’s greatest joy in life was being a father.

Gerald was very active in Harlem’s life, leading by example. He took him to church and attended school activities and club sports games. He was a man of God who served the church as a deacon, volunteering often before and after service. He maintained an immaculate home and a splendid yard with floral beds and beautiful greenery. He was dedicated to health and fitness and often trained with Harlem. He was an amazing chef who loved to grill and smoke food and provided wonderful homemade meals.

Gerald loved family! He shared a beautiful relationship with Marla Talley for over a decade. He and his special lady enjoyed travel, culinary adventures, celebrations, holidays, and creating new life memories. He often traveled to Cincinnati and Chicago to spend time with his loved ones.

Gerald was adventurous, fearless, and thirsty for new experiences. He went skydiving solo in 2002 and looked like a pro on his first jump! He loved outdoor sports like parasailing, flying a glider plane, jet skiing, and outdoor photography. Always up for a challenge, good competition, and teamwork, he participated in a Spartan competition and represented well!

Gerald leaves to cherish his memory family and friends who miss him deeply! Gerald lived a life of service, making his corner of the world better every day because he was in it!
