Assistant Chief James H. Stavely, III,was conducting roof operations on the scene of a house struck by lightning near Middletown when he complained he was not feeling well. He was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital by the Middletown VFC ambulance. Upon arrival to FMH, Chief Stavely suffered sudden cardiac arrest.
The National Emergency Training Center (NETC) campus will be closed during the government shutdown, including access to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
