John J. Haas

On April 17, 1922, Firefighter John Haas died after the fire truck that he was riding on collided with a street car at the intersection of Forsythe Boulevard and Skinker Road. Lieutenant Michael Kane and Firefighter Eugene Carten also died in the accident.

This firefighter line of duty fatality occurred before the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial was built in Emmitsburg, Maryland. While this firefighter has not been officially honored at the Memorial site, there are plans to do so when resources are available.
