Joseph Brosi

Joseph Brosi was a dedicated public servant, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. A proud lifelong resident of Queens, New York, he was defined by his unwavering commitment to family, service, and community. His legacy continues to live on through the countless lives he touched.

Joe shared a remarkable 50-year marriage with his wife, Patricia Brosi, building a home and a life centered on love, loyalty, and resilience. Together they raised three sons—Joe, Jim, and Jeff—instilling in them the values of hard work, integrity, and devotion to others. These values carried through to the next generation, as Joe became a proud and deeply involved grandfather to Isabella, Madelyn, Melanie, Lia, Elena, Jack, Jillian, and Jake.

Choosing a life of public service to others, Joe began his journey serving in the United States Army, embodying the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice from an early age. Following his military service, he joined the New York City Police Department (NYPD), where he continued to protect and serve on the streets of Brooklyn, New York.

In time, Joe transitioned to a career with the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), where he rose to the rank of lieutenant. He spent the majority of his distinguished 32-year career at Engine Company 88, earning the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters and the community he served. His leadership, bravery, and compassion left a lasting mark on all who had the honor to work beside him.

A proud resident of Bayside for over five decades, Joe was a constant and comforting presence in the neighborhood, always ready with a wave, a smile, or a helping hand. He was more than a civil servant; he was a pillar of his community and a symbol of what it means to live a life of purpose and humility.

Joe’s life was profoundly affected by his work in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks. Like many of his brothers and sisters in the FDNY, Joe responded selflessly to one of the darkest days in American history. Tragically, he succumbed to 9/11-related cancer on February 3, 2023, a solemn reminder of the lasting toll borne by the heroes of that day.

Joseph Brosi lived a life that was a testament to honor, sacrifice, and love. His legacy lives on through his family, his service, and the community he helped shape. He will forever be remembered as a hero, a family man, and a true New Yorker.
