Nahit Atif Oral, known as “Atif,” was born in Pazar, Turkey, on March 23, 1973, to the late Resat Ozdemir Oral and Ulker Surat.
Nahit moved to New York after he graduated from college in 1997 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Nahit met his wife, Marie Anisca-Oral, an Iraqi Army veteran, in Brooklyn, New York, where they got married in 2006. Nahit and Marie never had children, but they had a few animals that they loved dearly.
Nahit wore many hats throughout his life. After college, he worked as an engineer on a long-distance cargo vessel. He worked as a truck driver, a bus driver, and a superintendent.
Nahit also wanted to reflect his love and benevolence for people and animals into a profession. After moving to Texas in 2016, Nahit became a certified firefighter in 2020, and an EMT. He was assigned to Fire Station 93. He also received the Academic Excellence Award for Fire Academy Class 2020-Alpha.
He touched the lives of many people. He loved being a firefighter; therefore, he died doing what he loved.
